🛃 Customs & Import Regulations

🎒 For Tourists (Temporary Visitors)

  • Duty-Free Allowance
    • Alcohol: 1 liter of spirits or 2 liters of wine
    • Tobacco: 200 cigarettes or equivalent
    • Gifts up to €135 (approx.)
  • No Large Electronics or Commercial Goods: High-value tech (e.g., drones, cameras) may require declaration.
  • Cash Limit: Carrying more than €10,000 must be declared.

🏡 For Residents (Expats or Locals)

  • Personal Belongings
    You may bring in used household items tax-free when relocating, but must provide an inventory list.
  • Vehicle Import
    • Temporary stays: Cars can remain for up to 1 month without registration.
    • Permanent use: Must pay import tax and register locally.
  • Online Shopping
    Small online purchases are typically cleared easily, but may be taxed above €100 value.
  • Restricted Items
    Weapons, drugs, pornographic material, and endangered animals are strictly forbidden.

🚘 Vehicle Importation
Foreign vehicles can be used in the TRNC for up to 90 days. Long-term import requires a special permit and applicable duties. EU vehicles are accepted but must be insured locally.

🐶 Pet Importation
Pets are allowed entry if microchipped and accompanied by an up-to-date EU pet passport with vaccination records (especially rabies). A veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of travel is required. Quarantine is typically waived if documentation is complete.

Northern Cyprus offers a high-standard healthcare system with both public and private facilities:

    Available to all with social security insurance and their families. Emergency rooms are free for everyone, including tourists.
