Alsancak event to focus on breast cancer screening and treatment

The North Cyprus Ministry of Health is organising a breast cancer awareness event in Alsancak during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, according to reports by Halkın Sesi and Yenidüzen.

The event will be held from 14:00 to 16:00 at the Merit Royal Hotel. The ministry has given the programme the theme Early Diagnosis, Correct Treatment, Healthy Future.

Ministry Undersecretary Dr Mustafa Kalfaoğlu is scheduled to speak about the current situation and priorities relating to breast cancer in North Cyprus. Other presentations will address breast cancer figures and trends in Turkey and worldwide, screening guidance, current treatment options and breast-conserving surgery.

The programme is being organised in cooperation with the Turkish Surgical Association and will end with a question-and-answer session, according to the reports.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed from 1 to 31 October. The reports did not specify a calendar date for the Alsancak event.
