A public birdwatching activity and wetland cleanup are planned at Ayluga Pond on Saturday, 10 October, in connection with World Migratory Bird Day, local media reported.
The programme is due to start at 7am. It is being jointly organised by Her Daim Doğa Dostları Grubu, Kıbrıs Sulak Alan Topluluğu and Karpaz Dostları Derneği, according to Halkın Sesi and Yenidüzen.
After opening remarks, guides will lead a birdwatching session that is open to the public. Participants will then carry out cleanup work around the wetland.
Yusuf Şentuğ, president of Her Daim Doğa Dostları Grubu, said protecting birds and wetlands represented an investment in the future. He also said litter left in natural areas threatens birds’ life cycles.
