Primary-school students visiting an exhibition at Bedesten in Nicosia were introduced to cameras and basic photography techniques through a stand organised by the Cyprus Turkish Photography Association (FODER), according to reports by Yeniduzen and Halkin Sesi.
The association took part in the “Bookmarks” exhibition, known in Turkish as “Kitap Ayraçları”. The exhibition was curated by Mustafa Kemal Kasapoğlu and sponsored by the Yunus Emre Institute and the Cyprus Foundations Administration, the reports said.
Students visiting the FODER stand were given information about photography techniques and basic principles. They were also able to examine cameras closely and ask questions about photography.
FODER President Tevfik Ulual said introducing children to photography could help them pay closer attention to details, observe their surroundings from different perspectives and develop their imagination. He also said the activity encouraged children to create images and interpret the world in their own way.
The event brought an educational photography activity into a cultural exhibition setting, giving young visitors an opportunity to engage directly with photographic equipment and ideas.
