Cleanup event highlights wetland protection at Çanakkale Fresh Water
A morning cleanup at Çanakkale Fresh Water Wetland brought environmental groups together to remove waste and raise awareness of habitat protection.

An environmental awareness and cleanup event was held at Çanakkale Fresh Water Wetland on 24 October, bringing together members of Her Daim Doğa Dostları Group and Kıbrıs Sulak Alan Topluluğu.
Yeniduzen reported that the morning activity included collecting waste left in the natural environment. The information was provided by Yusuf Şentuğ, president of Her Daim Doğa Dostları Group.
Şentuğ said wetlands provide habitat for migratory birds and serve as a water source for natural vegetation. He also said his group has been working since 2013 to protect nature and contribute to a cleaner, more breathable island.
The event focused on both removing litter from the wetland and encouraging greater public awareness of the importance of natural habitats.
