Conservation work has been completed at the Church of Ayia Paraskevi in Palaiosofos, in Kyrenia district, according to Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage co-chair Sotos Ktoris.
Cyprus Mail reported that Ktoris also announced the start of conservation works at the Church of Ayia Irene in the Kyrenia district community of the same name.
The announcements were made alongside the completion of conservation work at the mosque in Koilani, in Limassol district. Ktoris described the mosque as one of the district’s oldest.
The projects in the Kyrenia and Limassol districts received financial support from the European Union and were carried out with technical guidance from the United Nations Development Programme, he said.
Ktoris said the Koilani mosque project could contribute to preserving Cyprus’s cultural heritage and to building trust between communities on the island.
