A reinforced-concrete flood-control weir is being developed on the stream in the Yukarı Dikmen Northwestern Basin, the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources said in information reported by Yenidüzen and Halkın Sesi.

The ministry said the project is intended to manage high water flows during heavy rain, retain water in a controlled way and reduce flood risk. It also said the scheme is designed to support water-resource protection and groundwater replenishment.

The planned structure is expected to hold about 7,500 cubic metres of water. Ministry figures put its length at 44.8 metres and its height at seven metres from the foundation.

According to the ministry, Water Affairs Department engineers carried out hydraulic analyses of three main stream branches and their catchment areas in Dikmen before the site was selected.

The contract was signed between the Water Affairs Department and Ceyda Construction Ltd. following a tender. The ministry said the tender value is TL 22,248,000, with completion targeted within 90 calendar days from the contract date.

Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Hüseyin Çavuş said the project was intended to improve infrastructure resilience to climate change and make better use of rainwater.
