The Dipkarpaz Environmental Protection and Social Activities Association has called for action on social housing and rural settlement plots across the Karpaz region.
Association president Fırat Borak said planning should not differentiate between villages, according to Halkın Sesi. He said rural communities were being left out of planning and described this as unacceptable.
Borak said the Karpaz region has experienced significant outward migration. He warned that migration could increase unless measures are taken to encourage young people to settle permanently in the region.
He said serious and concrete action was needed on rural settlement plots, particularly through a social housing project. The measures, he said, should apply regardless of village rather than being limited to a particular settlement.
