DP secretary-general backs plans for a North Cyprus airline

Democratic Party (DP) Secretary-General Serhat Akpınar has expressed support for efforts to establish a new airline brand for North Cyprus, according to Halkın Sesi.

Akpınar said preparations previously announced for the airline project had also received support within the National Unity Party (UBP), the main coalition partner in government.

He said the intended airline should be built on a sustainable structure that could offer more affordable tickets, assist tourism and the economy, and strengthen North Cyprus’s connections with the outside world.

Akpınar said the main consideration should be delivering the project through a sound, transparent and sustainable model that serves the public, irrespective of which political party puts forward the proposal.
