Drivers have reported finding dead dogs and cats on the Lefkoşa–Gazimağusa main road in recent days, raising concerns about road safety and the presence of stray animals near traffic.
Halkın Sesi, citing drivers who spoke to Ayaklı Gazete, reported that motorists had encountered the carcasses of at least four or five dogs and cats along the route during the past week.
The drivers said the scenes were distressing and frightening. They attributed the risk to a combination of rising vehicle numbers, inadequate road conditions and stray animals entering main roads.
The accounts were based on drivers’ statements. No official response or independently verified incident count was included in the report.
