Ercan runway to close overnight for tyre-mark removal

Ercan Airport’s RWY 11R/29L runway will be closed to arriving and departing aircraft overnight on specified dates between 19 October and 8 November, according to a notice issued by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and reported by Yeniduzen.

The closure will run daily from 00:30 to 05:30 between 19 and 24 October.

From 25 October through 8 November, the runway will instead be closed daily between 00:30 and 04:30.

The scheduled work involves removing tyre marks left on the runway surface during aircraft landings. The ministry said the maintenance is carried out at regular intervals each year to support flight safety and preserve the runway’s operational standards.

The notice applies specifically to RWY 11R/29L. Travellers with flights during the overnight closure periods should check the latest information from their airline or airport before travelling.
