Esentepe and Şahlan win opening U-16 girls’ handball matches
Esentepe edged DİGEM 20-18, while Şahlan defeated Ozanköy 35-9 as the U-16 Girls Handball League opened in Girne.

The TRNC U-16 Girls Handball League opened with two matches at Girne EASS Sports Hall, Halkın Sesi reported.
Esentepe began with a 20-18 win over DİGEM. Esentepe held an 11-6 lead at half-time before DİGEM reduced the gap during the second half.
Fatma F. Erdoğan scored six goals for Esentepe and Esra Çetin added five. DİGEM’s Nisa Şahan scored eight goals, the highest individual total in the match.
In the day’s other fixture, Şahlan recorded a 35-9 victory over Ozanköy. Şahlan led 16-4 at the interval.
Liva S. Alıcı scored 10 goals for Şahlan, while Chelsea Osagie and Hiranur Şanverdi each contributed seven. Kardelen Malgir scored four goals for Ozanköy, according to Halkın Sesi.
