Gazimağusa Municipality, in cooperation with the Culture Department, is organising a pilot night walking programme in the city’s walled area as part of World Tourism Day activities, according to Halkın Sesi.
The “Night Walking Tour – Experiential Journey” is scheduled for Sunday, 27 September, and Saturday, 3 October. The programme will follow a single story across 11 stations, combining walking and narration with performances, exhibitions and other experiences.
Participants will be welcomed at Akkule at 17:00. The walking, narration and experiential section of the programme is scheduled to run from 17:30 to 20:00.
A joint exhibition from the State Photography Competition will be presented at the Venetian Palace and Sea Gate during the programme. Following a break, the evening will conclude with an Othello performance from 21:00 to 22:00.
Registrations for the pilot events have been completed.
The municipality says the pilot is intended to gather feedback before the programme is developed into a permanent cultural tourism route in the next tourism season. It also aims to strengthen visitors’ connection with cultural heritage, develop the walled city’s potential for night tourism and diversify Gazimağusa’s tourism products.
