Göçmenköy-Gönyeli Süleyman Göktaş Cup tie set for 24 December

The postponed Antrenörler Derneği Süleyman Göktaş Cup match between first-division sides Göçmenköy and Gönyeli is scheduled to be played on Thursday, 24 December 2026, at Lefkoşa Atatürk Stadium, according to Hasan Topaloğlu, president of the North Cyprus Turkish Football Coaches Association.

Halkın Sesi reported that Topaloğlu gave the date and 19:00 kick-off time during a visit by the association’s management to Ayşe Göktaş, wife of the late honorary president Süleyman Göktaş.

Topaloğlu said the fixture had been postponed because of a ship disaster in the country.

During the visit, Ayşe Göktaş said the family wished to be consulted first about events held in Süleyman Göktaş’s name. She also said such events should be organised in a way that respects his memory.

Topaloğlu said the association was seeking to build on Süleyman Göktaş’s legacy while developing its work further, according to Halkın Sesi.
