The North Cyprus government has said existing legislation can be used to help state projects proceed more quickly while maintaining professional and institutional oversight.
According to a Prime Ministry statement, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel chaired a meeting with the president of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Cypriot Engineers and Architects (KTMMO) and the heads of other relevant chambers.
Discussions focused on state projects and projects initiated under international agreements or related protocols. Participants considered ways to complete them promptly, safely and under supervision within the current legal framework.
The government said it had been examining whether legal amendments were needed to address delays affecting such projects. Following the meeting, participants agreed that legislative change was not currently necessary, provided measures are taken to speed up projects and maintain effective state and institutional control.
The Prime Ministry said KTMMO and the participating chambers indicated that professional inspections would be conducted quickly and effectively to avoid delays to state projects.
