Partridges have been sheltering in unfinished buildings near Esentepe, on the northern slope of the Kyrenia mountain range, according to hunters cited by Halkın Sesi.
The hunters, described as concerned about wildlife, attributed the situation to unplanned construction. They said the birds were no longer able to find hilltops where they would normally roost.
They also said partridges generally remain in the areas where they are born and breed, presenting the reported presence in unfinished structures as a sign of pressure on their natural habitat.
The hunters described the images published with the report as showing the damage to natural life and argued that the situation did not reflect sustainable hunting.
The claims were reported by Halkın Sesi and have not been independently verified by News24.
