Intergaz held an emergency response and firefighting exercise at its LPG filling facilities in the Lefkoşa Organize Sanayi Bölgesi, according to a report by Halkın Sesi.

The drill was intended to test emergency action plans, shorten response times and improve coordination between the organisations involved. The Fire Service, the Civil Defence Organisation and Near East University Hospital took part in the exercise, the report said.

Intergaz Deputy General Manager Kader Kencer said the company aims to apply international safety standards and remain prepared for potential crises.

The company said its training programmes include LPG safety, fire prevention, emergency management, firefighting equipment and safe evacuation. The programmes are offered to public institutions, municipalities, hotels, industrial organisations, schools, businesses and technical personnel across North Cyprus.

According to Intergaz, the exercises provide practical instruction on first response to fires, the safe handling of LPG-related fires, action during gas leaks and coordination among response teams.

The company also said it has conducted training and exercises for more than 17 years, benefiting thousands of people in technical and fire safety. That figure is an estimate provided by Intergaz.
