KIB-TEK has announced a restructuring programme for consumers with accumulated electricity debts, offering reductions on late-payment charges and extended repayment options.
According to the utility’s written statement, the scheme was introduced under Council of Ministers decree-law No. 109/2026, adopted on 2 October 2026. Consumers who clear their debt in full can receive an 80% waiver on late-payment charges.
Those opting for instalments can receive a 50% waiver and repay the balance over up to 30 months, subject to a minimum down payment of 5%. Eligible public institutions and disputed debts may be repaid over up to 10 years with a 5% down payment after late-payment charges are waived.
The programme also provides for a 90% waiver on late-payment charges for meter debts connected to water pumps operated by municipalities and irrigation unions.
Applications must be submitted to KIB-TEK by 31 December 2026. The utility said applicants can find details and information about required documents on its official website or at regional offices.
Under the terms reported by KIB-TEK, the restructuring entitlement will be lost and electricity disconnected if three consecutive instalments, or any five instalments within one year, are not paid on time and in full.
