North Cyprus’s Labour and Social Security Ministry has invited the parties involved in a labour dispute at the Kıbrıs Türk Petrolleri Kalecik Filling Facilities to a meeting at the ministry at 14:00 on Monday, 12 October.
The ministry said the invitation was issued through its Registrar of Trade Unions under Article 20 of the Collective Labour Agreement, Strike and Referendum Law No. 42/1996.
The meeting follows warning strikes launched at the site by the Kıbrıs Türk Petrol-İş Trade Union, which the registrar is monitoring, according to the ministry.
Labour and Social Security Minister Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said the ministry was taking steps to reach an agreement between the parties and preserve industrial peace. He said full implementation of the law and the protection of workers’ rights were among the ministry’s priorities.
Separately, the Labour Department inspected the Kalecik facilities and issued warnings under Labour Law No. 22/1992 and Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 35/2008 to address identified deficiencies, the ministry said.
