A 7.5-dönüm plot in Aydemet, Nicosia, has been formally allocated to the Turkish Cypriot Football Coaches Association (KTFAD), according to Halkın Sesi.
The protocol was signed at the Prime Ministry after a Council of Ministers decision approved the association’s land request. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel signed the agreement, the newspaper reported.
The signing meeting was also attended by Sports Department Director Ersan Karataş; İlgen Bağcıer, the Prime Ministry’s special chief of staff and chair of the Sports Department’s General Administrative Board; KTFAD president Hasan Topaloğlu; and association board members.
KTFAD said its efforts to secure land had continued for 12 years, including an initiative begun during the tenure of the late Süleyman Göktaş. Topaloğlu said the association’s current administration had pursued the issue for four years.
According to Topaloğlu, KTFAD intends to start discussions shortly on building a permanent facility for football coaches on the Aydemet site.
He also said the association expects to lose its current club premises beneath Lefkoşa Atatürk Stadium as a result of the stadium’s planned demolition. The newly allocated plot could provide a future location for the association, although no timetable or construction details were reported.
