Lefke European University held orientation activities for new students that combined campus events with an introduction to Cyprus and Lefke culture, according to Halkın Sesi.
The programme was intended to help students settle into university life, meet one another and encounter different cultures. Activities on campus included a cinema night, sporting competitions and cultural events.
A Cyprus Culture and International Music Performances Night formed part of the schedule. Students were served şeftali kebabı, a local dish, and Verigo grapes as part of an introduction to Cyprus cuisine and regional produce.
Representatives of the Lefke Tourism Association gave students information about the area’s cultural values, history and food culture, Halkın Sesi reported. The Yedidalga Folklore Association also performed traditional dances during the event.
The activities were designed to support new students’ social connections while helping them become familiar with the cultural heritage of Lefke and Cyprus.
