Lefkoşa will host a programme of exhibitions, workshops, talks and publications examining the intellectual legacy of Cypriot thinker and sociologist Ulus Baker.
According to information from the Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality reported by Yeniduzen, Eklektik Manifest II will open on 30 October 2026 with an exhibition of biographical fragments at Arabahmet Culture House. The programme is scheduled to continue until February 2027 under the municipality’s patronage.
ARKHE is organising the programme, with the Vedat Kaner Foundation as its main sponsor and support from Turkish Airlines and Pasha Group. The municipality is presenting the initiative as preparation for the second Lefkoşa Biennial, planned for 2027.
Exhibitions and artist call
The programme will focus in part on Baker’s childhood and youth in Cyprus, while bringing together exhibitions, literary sessions, artist workshops, talks and research-based gatherings.
An open call for artists is scheduled for November 2026. Projects selected through the call are due to be presented in an exhibition opening in January 2027.
Workshops and talks planned for November and December will address artificial intelligence and NFTs in art, archiving practices, video theory and image regimes.
A digital experience exhibition based on Baker’s ideas will open at the former French Cultural Association on 21 November 2026 and remain open until January 2027.
The programme will also include a new edition of poet Pembe Marmara’s 1986 poetry book. The expanded edition will contain new poems and diary notes and is scheduled for publication on 25 December 2026, Marmara’s birthday, alongside a literature session.
