The Cyprus Turkish Medical Association (KTTB) and the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS) have prepared an information brochure on West Nile virus, according to reports by Yeniduzen and Halkın Sesi.
The organisations said the material is intended to give children, parents and teachers reliable information about the virus, support precautionary action and build awareness.
In a joint statement reported by the two outlets, KTTB and KTÖS described public-health protection as a shared responsibility. They drew attention to avoiding mosquito contact, removing places where mosquitoes may breed and recognising symptoms, particularly during the summer and autumn when mosquito exposure can increase.
The groups said keeping schools and their surroundings safe and healthy was a particular priority. They also highlighted the need to ensure families are informed about precautions and to increase awareness among teachers.
KTTB and KTÖS said they planned to continue working together around children’s health, community safety and awareness initiatives.
