Merit Crystal Cove hosts Mediterranean Poker Party in North Cyprus

The Mediterranean Poker Party at the renovated Merit Crystal Cove Hotel has attracted 588 players to North Cyprus, according to figures reported by Halkın Sesi.

The reported player list includes 140 participants from Russia, 123 from Turkey, 103 from European countries, 40 from Israel, 33 from Iran, 31 from Lebanon and 26 from China. Other participants travelled from locations including Cyprus, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Dubai, the United States, Italy, South America, Azerbaijan, the Far East, France and South Africa.

Halkın Sesi estimated that the event’s tourism movement could involve about 1,800 people. The estimate is based on an assumption that each player travelled with an average of two family members or other accompanying guests; it is not a confirmed visitor total.

Merit Poker President Songül Bekem said spending by players and their companions extended beyond the host hotel, including accommodation, restaurants, shopping, transport and entertainment. Her comments were reported by Halkın Sesi.

The newspaper presented the tournament as part of North Cyprus’s international tournament-tourism activity and as an opportunity for the refurbished hotel to host a large international event.
