Nearly 950 teachers have completed an artificial intelligence literacy programme run jointly by Near East University and the Education Ministry’s Education Joint Services Department, according to Halkın Sesi.
The nine-day in-service programme was held from 1 to 9 September at the Near East University campus. It was attended by 947 teachers from schools overseen by the ministry’s primary education, general secondary education, and vocational and technical education departments.
The course covered introductory AI concepts and its possible uses in education, including incorporating AI tools into lessons, preparing teaching materials and supporting lesson planning. Participants received both theoretical and practical instruction and were able to try different AI tools during the training.
Academics from Near East University’s Atatürk Faculty of Education, Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics, and Vocational School of Health Services delivered the sessions, Halkın Sesi reported. Vocational-school teachers also took part in a session focused on graphic design and AI.
Near East University and the ministry said the programme is intended to help teachers use AI-related skills in lesson preparation, the development of educational materials and teaching approaches suited to different learning needs.
