Nicosia volunteers to clean Venetian Walls areas on September 19

A bi-communal volunteer cleanup is planned in Nicosia on September 19, with participants set to clear areas along the city’s Venetian Walls.

Cyprus Mail reported that the action forms part of the Let’s Do It! Cyprus campaign and activities connected to World Cleanup Day. Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot volunteers are expected to take part.

Participants can meet at 9.30am at either Faneromeni Church or Büyük Han. The groups are due to come together at the Home for Cooperation at about 11am.

Organisers said participation is free, no registration is needed, and cleaning equipment will be supplied. The event is being organised by Let’s Do It! Cyprus in cooperation with the Yeşil Barış Hareketi.

World Cleanup Day falls on September 20 and has been recognised by the United Nations as an International Day, according to Cyprus Mail.
