Olive oil mills in parts of North Cyprus have reportedly begun processing the new harvest, with activity centred particularly on the Karpaz and Mesarya regions.
Halkın Sesi, citing reports received by Ayaklı Gazete, said several mills started operating in the week before its October 9 report. Producers delivering olives were reportedly forming queues at both cold-press and hot-press facilities.
The newspaper reported that harvest yields were so far in line with expectations. It also said recent rainfall across North Cyprus could help olives grow larger and potentially raise the overall yield.
The assessment of the season remains source-based, and no production figures or forecast volumes were provided in the report.
Marketing the oil produced during the harvest was identified by Halkın Sesi as an important issue for the sector. The report did not give further details on expected prices, sales channels or demand for this season’s olive oil.
