North Cyprus Ombudsman İlkan Varol has presented the institution’s 41st Period Report to President Tufan Erhürman, according to reports by Halkın Sesi and Yeniduzen.
The report covers the first six months of 2026, from 1 January to 30 June, under the requirements of the Ombudsman Law.
Information from the Ombudsman cited in the reports said six investigation reports were completed and published during the period. The institution also received 21 complaints or applications.
Two complaints were withdrawn after the administration corrected actions deemed erroneous in favour of the applicants while the investigations were continuing. A further two complaints were referred to the relevant authorities under the Ombudsman Law.
The reports said 21 citizens whose complaints fell outside the Ombudsman’s legal jurisdiction, or could not be accepted under the law, were given legal information and/or assistance in contacting the administration.
Varol said the Ombudsman is a constitutional institution whose authority derives from the Constitution and that it carries out its duties independently and impartially.
