Airbrush artist Tomáš Stojec has settled in Karmi after moving from Prague to North Cyprus in 2023, according to a report by Yeniduzen.
Stojec moved with his cat, Charlie, and initially lived in rented accommodation before buying a small house in the Kyrenia-area village in 2024. He told the newspaper that the island’s climate, natural surroundings, sea and quieter pace of life influenced his decision.
He said he first visited Cyprus in 2021 on the recommendation of his friend Dimitri Marenkoff, returning four more times before deciding to relocate. Karmi’s setting, architecture and peaceful atmosphere were also important in his choice of home, according to the report.
Plans for custom artwork
Stojec said he wants to continue his airbrush work in Cyprus, identifying possible demand for custom designs on motorcycles, cars, helmets, surfboards and signs.
He described a blue-toned design for a Harley Road Glide motorcycle as his most complex project, saying it took 385 hours to complete. The project was presented as an example of the detailed work he hopes to continue developing.
Outside his airbrush work, Stojec said he spends time reading and making designer lamps from wood and epoxy resin. He also said he regularly visits historical and cultural sites across North Cyprus, including Salamis, Buffavento Castle, St Hilarion Castle and Kantara Castle.
His account reflects one creative worker’s experience of relocating to Karmi and adapting his artistic plans to life in North Cyprus. The comments were reported by Yeniduzen.
