The Engelsiz Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği has raised concerns that a physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre has yet to begin operating, with specialised equipment reportedly still in storage.

Halkın Sesi reported that the association discussed the issue at a press conference. Dr Fzt. Şahveren Yücel, an association member, said equipment obtained for the centre four years ago had not been put into use.

Yücel said the equipment was intended to support people requiring rehabilitation, rather than remain unused in storage. The report did not identify the centre’s location or provide details about the equipment’s cost or procurement process.

The association said opening the centre would help support the quality of life of people with special needs. It is working with relevant university departments on plans to launch physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, according to the report.

The proposed model also includes the creation of a volunteer-based, certified rehabilitation team. Halkın Sesi reported that the model had not yet been implemented because of existing employment procedures.

The association’s comments point to an ongoing effort to establish services while equipment intended for the centre remains unused, although no opening date was provided.
