Twenty teachers from schools and educational institutions took part in an eight-hour environmental education programme at MAGEM Maraş in Famagusta, Halkın Sesi reported.

The training was led by biologist and environmental education specialist Associate Professor Nazım Kaşot. Participants used the My City, My Wetland teaching module and related materials, which were developed for the Ayluga Urban Wetland through the SWIFT Project.

According to the reported project information, the materials are designed to help children explore the wetland’s natural features and encourage responsibility for protecting the environment.

Teachers from primary schools, colleges and high schools were among those attending, including educators from Famagusta, Yeniboğaziçi, İskele, Güzelyurt and Lefkoşa.

The project says the module can be adapted for other wetlands and local environments, with the materials intended to be made openly available to teachers. In its next phase, volunteer participants are expected to train children through pilot education sessions.
