Telsim plans to launch 5G mobile service in North Cyprus on 15 November 2026, beginning in central and densely populated areas across all six districts, its general manager Sefer Tüz said in remarks reported by Halkın Sesi.
Coverage is expected to be extended gradually after the initial rollout. Tüz said the company does not plan to change its tariffs when the service begins.
According to Tüz, Telsim expects its 3,600 MHz C-Band service to offer speeds of up to 1 Gbps, including in locations where installing fibre infrastructure is difficult. Actual speeds and availability will depend on coverage and compatible devices.
He said 99% of the operator's existing SIM cards are 5G-compatible, while nearly 60% of customers' devices support the technology. Telsim also plans to start campaigns for compatible devices on 1 October, he said.
Tüz said fibre infrastructure work is continuing at locations where the operator intends to provide 5G. He added that the technology could support uses in healthcare, education, tourism, artificial intelligence and business operations.
